📚 Trait genetics training: an innovative workshop 🌱

Typhaine, Kévin and Alexis (breeding program coordinators) run an exciting training course on trait genetics at our stations, offering breeders a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of fundamental genetic principles in breeding. 🧬

At the heart of this workshop are key concepts such as dominance/recessivity, codominance and the heterosis effect. By focusing on the practical application of these concepts, breeders can explore how these mechanisms influence the transmission of traits during selection. 🌿

The course combines a theoretical part, which lays the foundations of trait segregation, with a rewarding practical part. By manipulating a printed F2 population, breeders can apply their knowledge to estimate whether genes are linked or independent. 🔍

This interactive experience enables breeders to link practical knowledge of their species with the in-depth information provided by the training. If this was a reminder for most, it strengthens not only their understanding of plant genetics, but also their ability to make informed decisions in their variety breeding programs. 💡

We are proud to see the teams engaging in continuous learning, opening up new perspectives for innovation and success in our Group.
